USB connectors and versions

What is USB?

USB stands for Universal Serial Bus.  It is used for almost every form of accessory on a modern computer.

What do I need to know about USB?

USB comes in 2 modern flavors, 2.0 and 3.0.  USB 2.0 is the common black port found on all modern pcs.  USB 3.0 can be found mixed in on new computers.  You can tell it apart form USB 2.0 by the blue colored ports.  Electronically USB 3.0 is backward compatible with earlier versions, can deliver more power, and is more then ten times (5Gbits vs 480Mbits) faster when paired with a USB 3.0 device.

Ok, but what cable do I use to hook my device up to my computer?
