What is the difference between a netbook and a laptop?

Netbooks are like toy laptops.  They are smaller, less powerful and generally cheaper.  Netbooks push forward the idea that computers are cheap and disposable devices.  Some Netbooks try to be even cheaper by using free Linux operating systems or Windows CE instead of Windows 7.

Despite all that, Netbooks can be extremely powerful and useful under the right situations.  We carry a Netbook on all service calls, using it for data recovery, networking and testing while carrying little weight and space.  They have little weight and long battery life due to the low power processor.

In short, Laptops are what a computer can be, and Netbooks are ‘good enough’ computing.
